Ran with a great friend Saturday morning. Lisa was at my very first race a few years ago (a 5K, she was running the 15K) and has been a positive motivating force for me ever since. Thanks Lisa for your encouragement and nudging! (By “with” I mean I met her at the race and we started around the same time…I have to shave off 3 minutes per mile to actually run with her. I’m working on it!)

Day 214 - Memorial Day

Today is a day set aside to remember and mourn those lost fighting for our country and to honor all Veterans. I am so glad I chose to run the Soldier Field 10 Mile Saturday morning. Not only is it a great race and a lot of fun, but they also honored Veterans and those who serve. Taps was played, the National Anthem was sung and there was a speech to focus our attention on the sacrifices of those who serve, thanking them. I can think of no better reason to run than for those who died making sure we’d have the freedom to do so. +10 beautiful miles = 142.25 miles since 1-7-12.

Day 211

Getting ready to go to sleep so I can be bright and shiny for the Soldier Field 10 mile race in the morning. Ate the prerequisite carbs, drank water, and my gear is ready. (I don’t really have much gear, it just sounds cool to say that.) The kids want to come cheer me on and be a part of the excitement. Let’s see how excited they are when I wake them up in the very early a.m. Should be a fun experience.

Day 210

This was one of those days that did not go according to how I had planned it in my head, which is often the case. I did manage to get out there for a 20 minute brisk walk while I talked to my Mom on the phone. I think I walked a mile, but wasn’t tracking. Then I ran 1.5 miles. Total now = 132.25 since 1-7-12.

Day 209 Part 2

I lied, I’m going to run 3 in the morning instead because that’s just how today went. In other news, I just got an email telling me more about my orange VIP bracelet for SF10.

Here’s what the email said:

Great News!
Your orange bracelet now gets you into TWO VIP areas

Not only will your orange bracelet get you into the CES Training Program VIP area, it will also get you VIP service at the NIKE REFRESH LOUNGE.

The NIKE REFRESH LOUNGE will be located right next to the Training Program VIP area on the stadium green. It will be open to the public. HOWEVER, Nike is reserving a 10’x20’ section of the lounge just for VIPs!

What does this mean for you? NIKE will be giving you special access to edible treats, refresh items, and a free massage! This is all in addition to the food and drink vouchers you’ll receive from the CES VIP area. This is all extra incentive to get plenty of rest… you’ll need to be at your best to run 10 miles followed by all of this VIP club hopping!

Ahhhh yaaaa baby FREE Massage!
